Hi I'm Adarsh Mathai

I am an Engineer, Designer and Artist. I aspire to work in Mechanical engineering research field and see myself becoming a professor down the line. I am an ambitious problem solver and try to balance theory and imagination to find creative and out of the box solutions for practical problems. I currently work in INDUS Lab, IIT Bombay. I am also a self-taught designer and artist and have done many works in a span of 12 years

Development and Hardware Implementation of Sensor Fusion Algorithm to Improve the Estimation of Aerial Robot Position and Orientation

  • Currently working on the implementation of a computationally efficient and accurate sensor fusion algorithm that obeys the manifold constraints and outputs the optimally accurate data to calculate the position and attitude of aerial robots.
  • Implemented Rotation matrix integration method that stays within the manifold constraints, thus avoiding any singularities that may occur due to parametrization of attitude.
  • Analyzed the noise parameters of IMUs for easier integration of the measured data in the future.
  • Implemented a nonlinear complementary filter (Mahony filter), in Simulink and a microcontroller (teensy 4.0) and analyzed the error and convergence data obtained.
  • Future works include classification and analysis of IMUs, developing a custom filter that operates on rotation matrix (as opposed to other algorithms that operate on its parameters), optimizing the algorithm for the given set of IMUs, and implementing the algorithm in a multirotor aerial robot.

Done the 3D model design and study of voronoids, gyroids and other minimal surfaces that can be used for material reduction in products without significantly affecting strength

Calculated the optimal values of passive suspension parameters using Genetic Algorithm, which uses numerical simulation to calculate the cost function value.

Collected and organized a dataset and combined it with available online datasets to train convolutional neural network to recognize sign language letters using webcam and analyzed the accuracies.
